Google has recently updated the Messages app with several new features. A few weeks ago, it was revealed that users might soon be able to disable expressive animations.
A newly redesigned Selfie GIF feature has also been introduced. The latest update includes a new gallery picker specifically designed for group messages.
An APK teardown can forecast potential features for a service by examining unfinished code. However, these features might not always be released to the public.
In the most recent beta version of Google Messages:
(messages.android_20240506_01_RC00.phone_samsung_openbeta_dynamic), a modification to the app’s interface has been discovered.
Clicking the new camera icon on the homepage, which isn’t available in the stable version of Messages yet, immediately opens the user’s photo gallery before they begin a new group message.
Now, with this update, users can access their gallery by tapping on the camera icon before they even start creating a group. This shortcut could make it faster to share an image with a few people.
Since this information comes from an APK teardown, it’s uncertain when or if Google will officially release this feature.
What we think?
I think the new gallery picker in Google Messages will be really useful. It sounds like it will make sharing photos in group chats much quicker.
Just tapping the camera icon to open my photo gallery before I start a group message is a cool shortcut. I’m excited to see if this feature will come out soon. It seems like it could make chatting with friends a lot more fun.
