Anthropic introduced a new program that allows teams to jointly use Claude AI models.
Anthropic, the creator of the Claude 3 AI models, is releasing an iOS app and introducing a new paid subscription option for groups to use these models together.
The Claude mobile app functions as a chatbot, and users can also upload photos directly to the app for “image analysis.” Before this, Claude could only be accessed through the Anthropic’s Claude.ai website or external model libraries such as Amazon Bedrock, Hugging Face, or Microsoft Azure.
Scott White, a product manager at Anthropic, notes that many users of Claude have been using the AI models via mobile web, prompting the company to develop a mobile app version of Claude.ai. He mentions that an Android version will be released shortly.
Anthropic has been somewhat slow in releasing its mobile app. Competitors such as OpenAI’s ChatGPT have had a mobile app for several years. Google’s Gemini is available within the Google app for iPhone users and has a separate app for Android. The AI search platform Perplexity also offers a mobile app.
The Claude app will be available at no cost to everyone using the Claude AI models, including those who use it for free, Claude Pro subscribers, and members of the new Claude Team plan.
Anthropic is launching a Team plan this month. It gives at least five members of a group access to Claude models at a cost of $30 for each person every month.
When members begin working with Claude, they can share their work with others. Additionally, the Pro plan, introduced in September, is designed only for individual users at a price of $20 monthly.
People who subscribe to the Team plan can use all the features of the Pro plan. They can have more chat interactions with Claude models than Pro users, who already have five times more chats than free users.
The Team plan also provides a bigger context window. This allows users to let the Claude chatbot analyze lengthy documents and manage detailed conversations.
The company mentions that it also provides groups with greater administrative control. Users can switch between the Pro subscription and the Team plan on the app. This is particularly useful for those who wish to use Claude for both work and personal purposes.
In March, Anthropic launched the Claude 3 series of models. This series includes three versions: the medium-sized Claude Sonnet; the biggest one, Claude Opus; and the smallest, Claude Haiku. Last September, Amazon invested $4 billion in Anthropic.
What we think?
I think the new Claude app from Anthropic will be popular. Many people like to use AI on their phones, and this app makes it easy.
It can also handle photos, which is cool. The price seems fair for groups to use together. I believe it will compete well against other AI apps. The option to switch between personal and work use is very useful. Overall, it sounds promising.
