When setting up a new Android phone, you have three ways to transfer your data from the old device. You can link both devices with a suitable cable to move your apps and data, use a Wi-Fi connection to transfer wirelessly, or retrieve data from a Google One backup.
Google is now combining two of these methods to speed up the data transfer and restoration process.
An APK teardown is used to forecast potential future features of a service by examining unfinished code. However, these anticipated features might not be included in the final public release.
Android Authority’s Assemble Debug found code for a new data transfer method in version 1.0.624892571 of Google’s Data Restore Tool app.
Google has named this new process “MultiTransportD2dTransport.” Essentially, it will allow users to restore or transfer data between devices using both Wi-Fi and a cable at the same time during new phone setup, making the process faster.

Google is also developing a feature that lets users transfer data to any Android device, whether old or new, at any time. This feature is named “Restore Anytime.”
Currently, if your Android device is already set up, you can’t restore data from an older device unless you do a factory reset and begin the transfer from scratch.
The new feature will allow you to restore data from an old device at any time without having to reset your phone.
However, the “Restore Anytime” feature comes with limitations. You can only transfer data from the same device you used before. To transfer data from a different device, you must delete all data on your current device.
The transferred data will combine with the data already on your device. Any settings you’ve modified won’t be affected by this. Above, you can see a screenshot of this feature.
What we think?
I think Google’s new data transfer methods will make setting up new Android phones much quicker. Being able to use both a cable and Wi-Fi at the same time sounds really efficient.
The “Restore Anytime” feature is also great because you won’t need to reset your phone to transfer old data. However, the limitation of transferring from the same device could be a problem for some people.
