VPNs or Virtual Private Networks can open up the internet for your device, bypass geo-restrictions, and keep your information safe from hackers and others who want to use your data. VPNs are not just for laptops but are useful for mobile devices as well. A VPN allows you to stream videos or access games from anywhere in the world when you are sitting on the bus and provides added security if you have to access confidential documents on the go,

Mobile devices are constantly connected to the internet, and this convenience comes at a price. The longer your device is online, especially if it is connected to public Wifi networks, the more likely your data can be intercepted by third parties who may use your credit card number or other confidential information. A VPN conceals your IP address along with the data that you want to protect.

Using a VPN allows your mobile device to access various internet connections, bypassing bandwidth restrictions. A VPN can make your device work faster by providing more connection options. This may mean fewer dropped calls or interruptions when streaming videos. Also, using a VPN can help you solve the problem of slower service by distributing your traffic evenly.

Why Use a VPN on An iPhone?

In addition to the advantages VPNs provide for mobile devices in general, there are several reasons why a VPN is ideal for iPhones in particular. Many Apple products users feel secure in the notion that Apple has its own end-to-end encryption to protect devices.

The darker side to that apparent advantage is that Apple can still share your data with third parties. Apple joined the PRISM surveillance program in 2012, which means the company can share files, videos, and emails with the NSA. Also, Apple shares data with third-party devs. Although Apple claims they require end-to-end encryption on their apps, a majority of them do not comply with this requirement. Therefore, iPhones, like other mobile devices, can benefit from VPNs.

Is it Safe to Use a VPN on An iPhone?

The reason many people use a VPN in the first place is to safeguard their data. Unfortunately, there are some VPN products that are created by unscrupulous parties. Some of these VPNs may contain malware that will steal your data or, at the very least, interfere with the proper functioning of your device.

Some VPNs sell user information to third parties for advertising purposes. Others may simply fund their free service with intrusive commercials that can interfere with your enjoyment of streaming movies, for example. To find the best free VPN, invest the time and research which products have received positive reviews and whose companies are legitimate.

It is safe to use a VPN with an iPhone if the VPN itself is safe and is appropriately installed. To avoid danger, choose a VPN from a reputable company and follow installation directions. If you want to save money, it may be a better idea to use a free version with limited features from a top company with a premium version of the same VPN. However, there are many safe, high-quality free and low-cost VPNs available.

Installing a VPN on Your iPhone or iPad

Once you have selected a VPN, simply download and install it on your device. First-time users need to sign up. If the VPN has been used on another of your devices in the past, you will need to sign in with your username and password. A prompt will request your permission to allow a VPN  configuration for your device. If you choose, you can also manually configure the VPN connection, but it will take a few more steps. Once the configuration has been done, the installation is complete.

How to Turn iPhone VPN On and Off

Once the VPN has been installed, you have the option of using it or deciding not to. Turning your VPN on and off is easy. Just tap “Settings” on your Home Screen. Then tap “General.” Then tap “VPN.” If you are working with several VPNs, tap the one that you want to activate or deactivate. Toggle the switch to “activate” or “deactivate.”

Make the Most of Your iPhone with a VPN

A VPN is an asset to any mobile device, including iPhones. Although Apple provides high-quality encryption, there is no guarantee all of its apps have that kind of protection. A VPN can prevent third parties from accessing your data and lets you stream videos from anywhere without restrictions. It can also provide constant access to fast internet and heightened security. Choose a VPN from a respected company with a strong track record for providing service to Apple devices.
