Google Contacts has been updated with a new design that simplifies adding and editing contacts. This update is in the most recent app version, 4.30.50.628193927.
Although it’s not yet available on the Play Store, Assemble Debug, a contributor at Android Authority, downloaded it from APKMirror and shared the news.
The Google Contacts app has been redesigned to be cleaner, making it easier to create or edit a contact.
Now, when you go to the “Create Contact” page, you see four essential fields at the top. Below, there are buttons to add more important but optional details.
Now, the fields for adding a contact’s first name, last name, company, and phone number are displayed first. Below these, there are buttons to include their email, an important date such as a birthday, an address, and a label.
The “Notes” field is also given more prominence, encouraging users to enter more details about the contact.
A new “Favourite” button has been added at the top, making it easy to mark a contact as a favorite while creating it.
Also, the “Add field” button now shows a dialog to enter specific details, instead of filling the entire screen with input fields like in the previous design.
If you haven’t seen the new design for Google Contacts yet, you’ll need to wait until Google officially releases the update. Alternatively, you can sideload the most recent version of the app to access the feature.
What we think?
I think the new Google Contacts design will make things easier for everyone. The main details are right at the top, so it’s quick to add someone’s basic info.
The extra fields like email or birthdays are just a click away, which is neat. The favorite button is handy for keeping important people close.
I’ll probably try downloading it from APKMirror if Google takes too long to release it officially.
