WhatsApp has a huge number of active users, yet it continuously seeks to boost user engagement and attract new members.

We covered a recent update about a prompt in the app that encourages starting chats with people in your contacts. Likewise, a new beta release of the app shows that adding new contacts might get easier.

Meta’s instant messaging app is one of the top Android apps available now.

It also offers a feature that allows you to message people without needing to save their contact details. This can be useful for brief exchanges, such as with a DoorDash driver.

However, adding contacts isn’t very straightforward or easy. Usually, you might tap the New message button, choose New contact, and add someone that way unless you shared their details via the attachment menu.

Another method is to go to your phone’s dialer app, enter the phone number, and save it to your contacts before it appears in your WhatsApp list.

A new in-app dialer might be the solution we need. The latest WhatsApp beta version (v2.24.9.28) shows that Meta could be developing a dialer inside WhatsApp, according to WABetaInfo.

It’s unclear where this feature will be located, but it could have unlimited potential if done right.

A dialer might make it quicker and easier to call someone on WhatsApp without first saving their contact details.

It could also help speed up the process of adding new contacts or enable quick conversations with businesses and executives you might only speak to once.

The screenshot displays a Call button that looks like a phone, indicating the dialer will mainly improve calling rather than messaging.

All WhatsApp interactions, including chats, voice, and video calls, are protected with end-to-end encryption. Additionally, making international calls through WhatsApp can be less expensive than traditional phone calls.

What we think?

I think WhatsApp’s new in-app dialer feature sounds really useful. It will make it easier and quicker to call or add someone.

You won’t need to save phone numbers first. This is great for talking to people like delivery drivers or businesses.

Plus, it’s cheaper to make international calls on WhatsApp. This new feature could make using WhatsApp even better for its many users.
