“Digital Chat Station, a well-known Weibo tipster, reports that it “is difficult to maintain the original price range” for the upcoming Xiaomi 15 series phones. That suggests that the company’s newest flagships will see a price hike. It has also been reported that there will be one model with satellite communications support.”
The upcoming Xiaomi 15 series is likely to cost more after Qualcomm unveils the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 4. According to a well-known Weibo source, Digital Chat Station, keeping the prices the same as before will be challenging for the company.
The Xiaomi 14 was initially priced at CNY 3,999, approximately $552, and the 14 Pro at CNY 4,999, roughly $691. Internationally, the starting price was €999, about $1,077, and the 14 Ultra began at €1,499, close to $1,617.
These prices are considerably higher compared to the Galaxy S24 series, which started at $799.99, with the S24 Ultra debuting at $1,199.99. Currently, the S24 Ultra is priced at $1,099.99 on Amazon.
According to Digital Chat Station, the cost of chips and memory is increasing. Additionally, the price of essential upstream materials is going up. These factors are reportedly making it difficult for the Xiaomi 15 series to maintain the same pricing as the earlier models.
Recent updates suggest that the Xiaomi 15 and 15 Pro will feature a triple 50 MP camera array on the rear. These cameras will have larger apertures compared to those on the Xiaomi 14. The basic model in the new series is expected to lack a periscope telephoto sensor, similar to the previous version.
The Xiaomi 15 Pro is expected to include a periscope camera that provides 3x optical zoom. Digital Chat Station has mentioned that the upcoming models will closely resemble their predecessors in appearance.
The tipster also noted that the non-Ultra models from the new series will feature a 2K AMOLED screen, with the 15 Pro sporting a curved display. These devices are reportedly superior to their predecessors, enhancing areas where the Xiaomi 14 series lacked.
What we think?
I think the Xiaomi 15 series will be more expensive than the older models. The new phones will have better cameras and screens.
They will look like the old models but will be improved in many ways. Prices are going up because the parts to make the phones are getting more expensive. People who want the latest technology might find it worth paying more.
